Cabo San Lucas is still having it's spring winds. Yesterday and today have been rather blustery with the Pacific Marine layer and the hotter Sea of Cortez side causing a fairly strong flow at Land's End. Temperatures are in the 90's when out the wind (Wind Chill Factor)and breezes are up to 20kts with a small wind swell and moderate to heavy chop. Fishing is still getting better due to the warming of the waters although avoiding the winds is keeping more of the sport fishing boats headed eastward towards the Sea of Cortez.

Baja California Weather Outlook |
08AM MST 04/27/07 The Pacific High off our map to the west (blue arrow) will continue to dominate our late spring weather pattern throughout Baja today. The pressure difference between the stationary 1027Mb High and a pair of 1011Mb Lows (red arrow) in the So Cal Bight are generating winds to 40kts off the California coast and to 25kts as far south as Mag. Bay on the pacific side of Baja. The Pineapple Express still lingers over parts of central and southern Baja today. Afternoon clearing should bring temps to seasonal by afternoon. Winds are expected to be from the N in the day and from the SW in the evening throughout the Sea. The southern Sea may experience heavy Corumuel Winds after sunset for the next few days.. |

Baja California Weather Baja California Weather Forecast |
12PM MST 04/22/07 A warm front (green arrow) off our map is sweeping down into California and pushing clouds and the slight chance of showers ahead of it into Baja California. The Pineapple Express (yellow arrow) is being pushed through Baja Sur today by the cold front that moved south from California yesterday. The Pacific High off our map to the west is dissipating, so we may endure a couple of cloudy days here in Baja Sur. Winds are forecast to be light, under 15kts from the north today in the southern Sea and to 10kts from the SW later tonight. The northern sea is expecting strong winds from the SW after sunset today to 25kts. More of the same is forecast for Monday. |

Baja California Weather Baja California Weather Forecast |
09AM MST 04/19/07 Baja California will experience clear skies and seasonably cool temps today while Baja Sur will still endure the Pineapple Express (yellow arrow) for at least part of the day. The overcast will clear throughout the day to the ENE. A Gale (orange arrow) is forecast in the CA Bight and is suppose to bring high winds to 25kts as far south as the Cedros. However, actual readings this AM indicate winds are relatively light. The Pacific High off our map (blue arrow) A ridge (magenta arrow & line) is expected to form from that High to just south of Cabo today and in conjunction with a trough (green arrow) over the mainland may bring strong winds from the WSW to parts of Baja Sur and Crossing in the next 24-48hrs. |

Winds in Cabo San Lucas Baja California SurThe lower Baja California Sur coastal areas will be rougher with these winds and swells generated by these continuous winds. The sea state can be rough for the smaller power boats so you want to keep this in mind for your fishing and pleasure boating. Also realize the winds can lay down in the afternoon for a short time and pick back up at sunset.
If anyone has more wind or sea state information that would be of value to those on the pacific side or the Sea Of Cortez side of the BajaPenisula please post it here.

Yuma Sun : Mexican officials discuss Punta Colonet portFinally and most importantly, the proposed port would ruin some of the beautiful coastal areas in Baja so that shippers can avoid costly union labor in California.
Do we need more plastic yard gnomes and inflatable Santa Clauses on motorcycles for Christmas? I think not at the expense of this remaining slice of Baja coastline. We encourage the Mexican authorities to reject this attempt to export Southern California problems to Mexico.

Baja California Weather Forecast | |
08AM MST 04/10/07 Most of Baja California and Baja Sur will enjoy sunny skies today. The Pacific Coast will probably endure a marine layer through mid day. Our southerly winds will continue as a trough (yellow arrow) runs directly up the Sea of Cortez to a Low (magenta arrow) that has dropped down into Baja California. This Low has been stalled behind a deeper Low that will break free and move east rapidly today (orange arrow) The pressure difference is a result of a High off our map in the Pacific (blue arrow) Another trough (red arrow) is moving along the ITCZ but the northern edge is tearing away and moving east. |

08AM MST 04/09/07 Much of Baja will be overcast, at least through the morning as Pacific moisture is being drawn across the peninsula to a trough (orange arrow) in the Sea of Cortez. The difference between a High in the Pacific (blue arrow) and a Low over AZ/CA (magenta arrow) is forecast to bring us winds from the SW to WSW through the forecast period to 15kts. Temperatures will remain seasonably cool in both Baja California and Baja California Sur. There is a trough and associated thunderstorms in the ITCZ (red arrow) about 900 miles SW of Acapulco. |

High Winds In Cabo Baja CaliforniaDo be aware that the sea state is fairly rough for small boats and pangas but a great sailing wind for those cruisers and windsurfers. These winds seem to be fairly traditional wihtthe Semana Santa campers that are all over the local beaches.

Sea Turtles Need Your Help!Spring is a time to celebrate life and renewal. Unfortunately, the first weeks of spring present a grave challenge for sea turtles. During the 40 days of Lent from February to April, and closing with the celebrations of Holy Week, many devout Catholics abstain from eating red meat. Because sea turtles live in the ocean, many view them as "fish" and a substitute for "red" meat, and regularly consume sea turtle meat and eggs during holy days. Throughout Latin America, an estimated 10'000 sea turtles are consumed every year during religious holidays.
Sea turtles need your help now more than ever: support Pro Peninsula and the Grupo Tortuguero's efforts to save sea turtles, and spread the word that these magnificent creatures are in danger of extinction.
* Support our outreach and research initiatives in communities on the Baja California peninsula by adopting <http://www.propeninsula.org/adopt> one of our sea turtles today! The money you donate will directly support our efforts to reduce consumption in communities throughout the peninsula.
* Send a Letter to the Vatican <http://www.propeninsula.org/campaign/1/5.html> : Our bilingual campaign to create awareness in the Vatican about the issue of sea turtle consumption during Lent and Holy Week has already generated close to 300 letters in the past week. Help us get to 500 letters by the end of Holy Week! Send a message to the Pope and the Vatican that sea turtles need their help; they can help us clarify the misunderstanding that sea turtles are fish and let Catholics worldwide know that they are not not acceptable food during holy days or any other time.
With your help, we can give sea turtles reason to celebrate this spring.
P.S. Spread the word, send this announcement <http://www.propeninsula.org/email_this/1/0/2/5.html> to your friends and family!
