Winds in Cabo San Lucas Baja California Sur
At the tip of Baja California Sur in Cabo San Lucas we still have a fairly strong northerly flow. The winds were averaging 25-30kts last night and continue to blow this morning around 20-25kts. This a common pattern for this time of year and affects the entire Baja Sur Coast. For those sailing south it can be a great time. but for those that are planning their trips north via sail or power boats may want to wait fort he months of June or July when these winds generally are not as strong or for as long duration. In the case of sailing it can actually be of an advantage as long as you plan on laying a long tack (250-300nm) out to make your way north.

The lower Baja California Sur coastal areas will be rougher with these winds and swells generated by these continuous winds. The sea state can be rough for the smaller power boats so you want to keep this in mind for your fishing and pleasure boating. Also realize the winds can lay down in the afternoon for a short time and pick back up at sunset.

If anyone has more wind or sea state information that would be of value to those on the pacific side or the Sea Of Cortez side of the BajaPenisula please post it here.
