Tropical Storm Lowell to head for Baja California Sur
09/08/2008 9:07 AM MDT Tropical Storms Lowell weakened slightly overnight as it move WNW some some 280 miles SSW of Cabo San Lucas. Forecasts call for TS Lowell to turn nearly 90° to the NE on Wednesday and head straight for the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur. TS Lowell is forecast to make landfall in Baja late Thursday or early Friday as a tropical storm and degenerate quickly into a depression.
Topical Storm Lowell is currently located near 19.0N 111.2W and is moving 305° at 08kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1000Mb and winds are 45kts with gusts to 55kts. Forecasts call for Lowell to remain a tropical storm through landfall in Baja late Thursday.
