North winds from Southern California Santa Ana winds will wrack the Sea of Cortez for the next several days Weather in Baja California |
11AM MST 12/12/07 Today is Dia de Guadalupe in Mexico, a significant religious holiday in Mexico and banks and government office will be closed. We won't get a day off from the wind though, as northers are expected to build today to 25kts in the Sea over the next 24hrs. This is a result of a moderate High (red arrow) that has pushed inside the Low (yellow arrow) that has been buffering the Sea from these winds off and on for several weeks. Seas are expected to build to 6' in the southern Sea. We will get a sight respite as the High slide east but another High (magenta arrow) will slide into place and build winds again in 36-48hrs. Another strengthening High off the coast of Oregon will move ashore in the next 36hrs and will bring more winds late in the weekend. |
