Kiko to Become a Hurricane and Watches to be posted later today for Baja California Sur

Weather in Baja California

09AM MDT 10/20/07 Tropical Storm Kiko (red arrow) is now about 400 miles SE of Cabo San Lucas and moving NE. The storm is forecast to attain hurricane intensity later today and pass just south of Cabo San Lucas on Monday. A High (blue arrow) over mainland Mexico and Kiko will interact to build winds to 20kts from the NE shifting to the NW over the next 36hrs. Seas will build to 6' in the southern Sea. On the Pacific side waves will run 13' in the north to 9' in the south. A cold front will push into California over the weekend and bring grey skies and rain to Baja California. We expect the Baja Sur will enjoy mostly sunny skies through the weekend, except the extreme southern portions will develop cloudy skies as Kiko approaches.
