09AM MDT 07/18/07 Clear skies and warm temperatures throughout Baja today as a result of a High (blue arrow) just off our map to the west. This High has been forecast to dissipate for the last three days yet has grown from 1019Mb to 1021Mb today the clockwise rotation is sweeping slightly cooler air across Baja from the NNW. Some scattered clouds may drift over Baja Sur late this afternoon from the mainland. A broad band of thunderstorms (magenta arrow) is being stimulated by one of three tropical waves on our map (orange arrows) The westward progress of this system has stalled against a ridge (yellow arrow) which will probably break to the NE and allow the tropical moisture to slip to the SW, denying Baja Sur any rain. There is still a chance these thunderstorms could make there way across from the mainland but tropical cyclone formation is unlikely. |
