08AM MDT 07/17/07 Clear skies and warm temps will cover Baja today. Baja Sur may experience some periods of scattered clouds, particularly in the higher elevations from clouds (yellow arrow) drifting west from the mainland. This weather is the result of a High that is fading while drifting west. When this High dissipates the Eastern Pacific may return to more seasonal patterns. A Low over the mainland and associated thunderstorms are being stimulated by a tropical wave. A High pressure ridge extending SE from the High (blue arrow) to a point SE of Cabo could trap this weather to the east. Although tropical cyclone landfall in Baja is unlikely for another month, we could receive some rain late in the week if this system drifts to the NW. |
