08AM MST 05/15/07 May 15th marks the start of the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season and we have expanded the coverage area of our map to include the tropical areas. The Pacific High off our map (blue arrow) continues to dominate Baja weather and in conjunction with a very shallow thermal Low (green arrow) over the mainland to provide light winds from the WSW for most of Baja. Sunny skies will also rule from Baja California to Baja Sur. The ITCZ (orange arrow) will creep north over the next several months until creating a credible threat to Baja weather around August 15th. There is significant thunderstorm activity along the ITCZ well west of the hurricane birthing grounds. The 26°C thermo cline (red arrow & line) is significant in cyclonic development.
